Waking up at Alice Lake ... Coooold overnight. Well, probably not that cold but I am a softy.
Finally a great trail run in Canada. This trail went by all four lakes in the park and it was nice and challenging but absolutely beautiful. I was probably also spurned on by the knowledge that a bear and her cub were in the area. I didn't encounter them ...
Back to Alice Lake this morning for canoeing and the SUP. This time we got to spend longer and I got a chance on the SUP. The wind really picked up and I kept getting pulled into this little cove but it n the canoe and on the SUP.
I loved the SUP and I am definitely doing that again.
Leaving Canada today and starting our trek towards home. Feeling longing for this wonderful place already and I hope to see it again. Whatever little we've seen of Canada has been amazing. I wish we could spend more time here but I think it is time to go.
Crossed the border and back into Washington. We decided not to stop in Seattle. The boys are just not old enough to enjoy traipsing around in a city. Nadia and I are coming back to explore in a couple of weeks, just the two of us.
I picked a campground from looking at the map just because I liked the name "Deception Pass". Not entirely true. I also like that it is on an island in the sound, that the bridge to get in and out of the place closes at 7:30 PM and that we can drive the length of the island and take the ferry back to the mainland in the morning.
It turns out that Deception Pass Campground is quite a good find. However, the fire ban is in effect in Washington State also and we were cold in the evening without a fire.
