The Silver Falls park has amazing trails. Supposedly there is a 9 mile loop that allows one to visit all the falls. I was not that ambitious and went on a 7 mile run and saw four of the falls this morning. Incredibly satisfying run.
Upper South Falls
Lower South Falls
And the same falls from behind.
Upper North Falls.
And one of my favorite part of a trail run ... animal encounter.
Yes, this state park that charges $19 per night for a camp site has lovely PAVED walkways and the best maintained trails I've ever seen!
The campsite was full but I found it really strange that I only met one other person on the trails on my run. Where is everybody? Why are they not hiking these beautiful trails? This is not an unusual occurrence by any means. In pretty much every campground we've been in the trails are pretty much deserve even though the campgrounds are full. The only exception ... Alice Lake in Canada. Those Canadians know how to take advantage of the beauty around them. I am sure that many people enjoy the trails but I really thought that they would be a lot more frequented than they are.
Other pursuits that we are enjoying on this trip:
Berry hunting. We've found quite a few blackberry bushes on our travels. We go crazy for blackberries. We've also found plums and salmon berries. No runny bottoms yet so we must be eating no poisonous fruit : ) Actually I am not bad at figuring out what is safe to eat. I grew up eating lots of fresh fruit off bushes and trees in Romania.
Back in the road today towards Sacramento.
