OK, so Sacramento was kind of cool. I was surprised how much fun we had there. Of course, we just saw for blocks of the place and we have no clue of what Sacramento is really like but what we saw we really enjoyed.
The train that we climbed clandestinely the previous night actually runs and we climbed on board officially for a 45 minute ride along the old railroad next to the river (???) OK, just looked it up. It is on the Sacramento River. Our hotel was right next to this cool yellow bridge.
More fun on the train.
After a fun morning in Sacramento we headed towards Yosemite. It always takes longer to get there than it seems that it should take but we made it and got a camping space at Hodgdon Meadow.
We explored a bit this evening. We walked to the meadow. Gorgeous! Unfortunately the kids allergies kicked it and I got devoured by mosquitoes.
The kids and I went to a ranger talk on woodpeckers. It was a lot of fun and we learned a lot about woodpeckers, like that they hitch up a tree by jumping, grabbing with their claws and using their tails for balance.
Looking forward to exploring more tomorrow.
