Woke up pretty early to honks and shouts. Apparently there was a bear in the campground but it did not come close to where we were.
I was cold and tired and really feeling ready to go home. I went for a run and made it to Tolumne Grove and saw some really cool sequoias.
We took the kids there later. It was a 3 mile round trip hike but they did really well even though it was pretty steep! It was definitely worth it.
Look at this monster!
The kids are amazingly good at finding ways to climb things and crawl through things. Without them I just thought, Hmm ... nice trees. With them we had an awesome adventure exploring each tree in detail.
This was was great to climb on. It was actually me who found the way up.
This one was also great to climb on but it was hollow all the way through!!! The kids were able to crawl its whole length and come out the other side. So cool.
Nadia getting out of the tree at the other end.
And walking through a tree ... again : )
Good bye Yosemite. Hope to see you again soon. Headed to Sequoia now. The hike and drive took longer than we thought and we got to Sequoia after 8 PM. It looked like we were chasing a rain storm because the roads were wet. It was incredibly beautiful: the colors in the sky and of the trees and plants were amazing in the dusk and after a rain. No pictures could do it justice.
We set up in rain and dark and had dinner at 9:30 PM but kids were still so awake and excited that they went to bed after me.
